Seeing players who haven't touched RS3 in 8+ years go through the beginnings of rs 3 gold is a great way to determine what works in the"new participant experience" and what does not. Fantastic example. The man is brand new to RS3, with played oldschool, or pre-eoc RuneScape. There's been a couple of things he has run into he is level out confused by that because he misses the excuse, or does not get you. The concept of the toolbelt is not explained. The stamina bar in mining is disabled by default, and of refreshing your stamina to keep up your mining rate, the idea isn't taught. Hell, he even points out strange things that used to insect most of us, but we've chosen to dismiss because it has gone unchanged by Jagex for so damn long, like why full helms and med helms have exactly the same stats. It simply appears to be a way to get candid feedback from someone who isn't a veteran of RuneScape.
Though I've not made any videos, I'm one of those men. Allow me to inform you, the encounter is OVERWHELMING! In spite of all the in game advice it feels almost impossible to discover any footing. Granted as an OSRS participant I keen to do things marginally efficiently so that might hamper my beginnings in this game that is content-rich. Frankly speaking however, that feeling existed 16 years also. Even when RuneScape was so small, RuneScape did not tutor enough on what the hell I was supposed to do. Though equally so, eventually figuring out it felt gratifying.
I recently launched an OSRS account and an OSRS Ironman because I have a couple friends that play and I wanted something I could socialize with them on. The feeling still sticks with OSRS too. Neither are an close or accurate diversion. I really don't understand where the regions are how to reach them. I don't know any of the new procedures for any skill or the fuck wintertodt is how to get it done. I would be fucked before I even start if I had not watched 3 entire series of OSRS Ironmen. And even though I have watched this content, I am still at a loss for what to do to be near effective!
The battle for RS3 is much more complex, yes, but all else in OSRS is more complicated. Not using a tool belt and having to recall what I need to bring with me for every single skilling action alone is awkward. The fastest way is labor intensive. Seriously, as far as studying what QoL attributes there are in RS3 is overwhelming, learning what QoL features there are not in OSRS is at least overwhelming.
I obtained overwhelmed, remade an account in Rs3, felt this way at first, and went to older school. However, I have annoyed at grindy RuneScape had been, and that I wanted things such as Lodestones I had a taste of. Eventually I switched back, but decided to create an Iron I was not tempted to rush elements of RuneScape, and haven't looked back.. Whenever you need you can do. I did complete revolution for a fantastic long while and only switched when I began learning Vindicta, which gave me an appreciation of this system. I do full revo since I'm lazy and cheap RS gold it doesn't much when you are not bossing.
